Overview

If you like to organise your predefined search you can use categories. (If predefined search would be files in the file system, then you can think of categories as folders).

Categories have been around in Identity Manager (IM) for many years. With IM 5.1.0 we introduce support for more levels than one. (see example screenshot below)

Configuration

Using Identity Manager Configuration Manager and Tab Designer

1. Open a predefined search in the Tab Designer
2. Click Tools -> Tab Designer
3. Click Show Advanced
4. In Category, use syntax Level1\Level2\Level3.
   In screenshot above one of the categories would be configured as Reports\Misc\Managers

Using an editor to configure directly in the XML file

1. Open a predefined search in a text editor
2. Add <VirtualViewCategory>Reports\Misc\Managers</VirtualViewCategory>

Auto expand one, several or all categories during login

This feature was added to PIM 5.6.7

1. Open DSEditor.properties for a role.
2. Name of policy Expanded_Category
   1. Example when to have all categories expanded.
      Expanded_Category=EXPAND_ALL
   2. Example when to have e.g. in picture above MISC expanded.
      Expanded_Category=Reports\Misc
   3. Example when to have e.g. in picture above MISC and Password expanded. Use dubblepipe as separator.
      Expanded_Category=Reports\Misc|| Reports\Password
