Clavister VPN demo instructions
Overview
This demo will guide you to setup Windows or Mac clients for strong authentication using PhenixID One Touch with Clavister VPN.
VPN configuration instructions
The instructions is intended to guide a person to setup a local VPN client for testing authentication and access to the See it, Try it, Buy it infrastructure via VPN.
Instructions below is for Microsoft Windows 10 & 7 and Mac clients.
Pre-requisite: Before testing, the user must have registered themselves and enrolled for the PhenixID One Touch mobile app.
Login to VPN through Clavister firewall using PhenixID One Touch on Mac example:
Note, default timeout settings for VPN clients is 30 seconds. Have your mobile ready!
Windows clients
This sections have specific instruction for enabling the local VPN client in the Microsoft operating system.
Windows 10
Follow these instructions to setup a local VPN to See it, Try it, Buy it infrastructure.
- Open Windows settings, and type VPN in the search view and press Enter
- Choose “Change virtual private networks (VPN)”
- Click “Add a VPN connection”. Type in the following information:
Save Settings - Under “Related settings” – Click on “Change adapter options”.
Right click on your VPN adapter and select “Properties”, select “Security” tab and set the following settings:
– Data encryption: Require encryption (disconnect if server declines)
– Enable the “Allow these protocols” button.
Select the following protocols:
- Connect the VPN client
– Type your user id: “email@adress.com”
– Type your password and click OK
- A notification will be sent to your mobile. Open the PhenixID One Touch mobile app.
– PhenixID One Touch will download the login request. Click on CONFIRM and enter your pin code or use the fingerprint if setting is enabled in the PhenixID One Touch app.
Your VPN client will now be connected. - To test the VPN connection. Open a web browser and go to http://internaldemoresource.phenixid.se. This is a web page that is only accessible from the VPN protected network.
Windows 7
Follow these instructions to setup a local VPN to See it, Try it, Buy it infrastructure.
- Open control Panel and go to Network and Sharing Center, select the option “Set up a new connection or network”. In the panel choose the option “Connect to a workplace. Set up a dial-up or VPN to your workplace”
- In the wizard select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)
– Internet address: vpndemo.phenixid.se
– Destination name: See it, Try it, Buy it
- After creating the VPN connection.
Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections.
Right click on “See it, Try it, By it” and select Properties.
Go to Security tab. Set following settings:
– Type of VPN: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPSec)
Click on Advanced settings and select “Use preshared key for authentication” enter “phenixid-demo” as key value and click OK
– Data Encryption: Select “Require encryption (disconnect if server declines)
– Enable “Allow these protocols and select “Unencrypted password (PAP)
- Start the VPN connection. Type in your:
– User name: email@address.com
– Password: YourPassword
and click on Connect
- A notification will be sent to your mobile. Open the PhenixID One Touch mobile app.
– PhenixID One Touch will download the login request. Click on CONFIRM and enter your pin code or use the fingerprint if setting is enabled in the PhenixID One Touch app.
Your VPN client will now be connected. - To test the VPN connection. Open a web browser and go to http://internaldemoresource.phenixid.se. This is a web page that is only accessible from the VPN protected network.
Mac clients
Follow these instructions to setup a local VPN to See it, Try it, Buy it infrastructure.
- Open System Preferences/Network. Select the + to “Create a new service” and add the following settings and click Create:
– Interface: VPN
– VPN Type: L2TP over IPSec
– Service name: See it, Try it, Buy it
- VPN settings. Enter configuration and click Apply
– Server Address: vpndemo.phenixid.se
– Account Name: email@address.com
- Click on “Authentication Settings”. Enter configuration:
– User Authentication: Password
– Machine Authentication: select Shared Secret and enter phenixid-demo
Click OK - Click on Advanced and select “Send all traffic over VPN connection
Click OK and then save configuration by clicking Apply - Connect and test VPN.
- A notification will be sent to your mobile. Open the PhenixID One Touch mobile app.
– PhenixID One Touch will download the login request. Click on CONFIRM and enter your pin code or use the fingerprint if setting is enabled in the PhenixID One Touch app.
